Training Process:

Before applying, it's important to meet certain requirements to successfully pass three tests conducted by the Driving Standards Agency (DVSA). The process, involves comprehensive training, the time it takes depends on how quickly you pick up the required attributes.

Becoming a qualified driving instructor is a rewarding career choice, and here are the steps you need to take:


By following these steps and preparing thoroughly for each with dedication, the right mindset, and our support, you can embark on a fulfilling career.




**Part 1: Theory Test**


To begin, you will need to prepare for a theory test that covers various driving topics. The pass mark for this section is 85%, with at least 20 correct answers for each section of the multiple-choice questions. For the hazard perception test, you will need to score 57 out of 75. 


SJK will provide you with the training materials required to pass your part 1 test, including one-to-one advice and instruction.



**Part 2: Practical Driving Test**


Next, you will showcase your driving ability during a 60-minute drive where you will need to demonstrate your skills, handle safety questions, and perform manoeuvres. To pass this part, you may only gain the maximum of six driving faults and no serious or dangerous faults.


SJK will teach you the standards set out by the DVSA to pass part 2.

During your training SJK will provide a suitable vehicle, the vehicle will also be provided for your part 3 test. 

Training will be given by a fully qualified experienced ADI.



**Part 3: Instructional Ability Test**


In this final part, you will demonstrate your teaching skills by instructing a real learner driver. Your performance will be graded as follows:

- 0-30: Fail

- 31-42: Grade B (Allowed to join the ADI register)

- 43-51: Grade A (High standard of instruction, allowed to join the ADI register)


SJK will teach you the standards set out by the DVSA to pass part 3.

During your training SJK will provide a suitable vehicle and student for the test.

Training will be given by a fully qualified experienced ADI.
